Summary

Techone, a group of MSPs based in the Netherlands with over 1,000 team members across 17 locations, used inforcer to standardize Microsoft 365 management across more than 4,000 tenants. By building one shared baseline and onboarding tenants through Partner Center against existing GDAP relationships, Techone cut per-tenant policy change time from 10 minutes to under 5 minutes. The takeaway for MSP groups: a single baseline applied group-wide removes the inconsistent settings that build up when every tenant is configured by hand.

Challenges

  • Centralizing tenant management and strengthening security controls.
  • Aligning inconsistent settings, varied naming conventions, and security gaps.

Solutions

  • Created a standardized baseline for all tenants, ensuring consistency across the group.
  • Avoided complex app registrations by using inforcer's Partner Center to onboard customers and further existing GDAP relationships.

The challenge: ensuring centralized tenant management across an MSP group

As a Dutch MSP Group, Techone manage more than 4,000 Microsoft 365 tenants. As a result, they were struggling to centralize tenant management and ensure strengthened security controls. They were seeing inconsistent settings, varied naming conventions, and security gaps.

The solution: simplified and scaled onboarding, governance and visibility

As inforcer is a Microsoft-native solution, Techone can use the Partner Center to onboard customers and further existing GDAP relationships, while avoiding complex app registrations.

inforcer then allows Techone to create a standardized baseline for all their tenants, ensuring consistency across the group and minimizing security gaps. They save a significant amount of time by carrying out mass deployments to mitigate vulnerabilities. inforcer recognises existing policies and offers a choice to delete, rename, or align them as needed.

The AI policy explanations in inforcer provide helpful insight into what every policy does, simplifying ongoing management for Techone’s engineers. They can also easily enable a new feature to create an upsell opportunity.

Techone use inforcer’s alerting features to gain visibility into their tenants and identify any potential gaps. For instance, they can use alerts to see when applications are expiring, or how many admins do not have MFA enabled.

The results: time saved and consistency enforced across MSP group

In inforcer, Techone found a multi-MSP solution as well as a multi-tenant solution. By creating a shared baseline that they use across their MSP group, Techone was able to standardize their work, ensure consistency, and easily share knowledge across teams of engineers. All MSPs in the group have to align to their minimum security requirements to ensure that customers are properly protected.

They have saved a significant amount of time by automating mass deployments. For example, a policy change might take ten minutes to carry out in just one tenant when done manually. With inforcer, they can make the same change across their entire tenant base in less than five minutes.

They have seen many additional benefits including higher customer Secure Scores and a reduced risk of shadow IT for tenant tools. Techone’s engineers are making fewer mistakes in individual tenants, and the time they have saved has allowed them space to be more proactive, resulting in fewer vulnerabilities.

About inforcer

We help MSPs turn Microsoft 365 policy management into a scalable security service.

Microsoft is always updating its security controls, policies, and features. Just because a tenant was configured correctly last month doesn’t mean it's secure today.

We make it easy to catch and correct potential drift across all of your clients before it becomes a security or compliance liability.

Scope and Limitation Statement

For Techone, inforcer covered standardized baseline creation and deployment across more than 4,000 Microsoft 365 tenants, plus Partner Center onboarding against existing GDAP relationships. The page describes the baseline generically and does not name individual Microsoft workloads. The 10-minute-to-under-5-minute policy change figure and the 4,000-plus tenant count are specific to Techone's environment and are not guaranteed for every MSP.

FAQs

How did Techone reduce the time it takes to change tenant policies?

Techone cut policy change time from 10 minutes per tenant to under 5 minutes across its entire base of more than 4,000 Microsoft 365 tenants. The MSP group built one standardized baseline in inforcer and pushed it out instead of editing settings tenant by tenant, removing the inconsistent naming conventions and security gaps that had built up over time.

How many Microsoft 365 tenants does Techone manage with inforcer?

Techone manages more than 4,000 Microsoft 365 tenants with inforcer. The Dutch MSP group has over 1,000 team members spread across 17 locations, and uses one shared baseline across the whole group so every location applies the same security settings instead of each office configuring tenants independently.

What problems was Techone facing before using inforcer?

Before inforcer, Techone struggled to centralize management across its 4,000-plus tenants. Settings were inconsistent from tenant to tenant, naming conventions varied by engineer, and security gaps opened up as a result. Techone needed one way to standardize configuration across the whole MSP group rather than leaving it to individual technicians.

Can one inforcer baseline be shared across multiple MSPs in a group?

Before inforcer, Techone struggled to centralize management across its 4,000-plus tenants. Settings were inconsistent from tenant to tenant, naming conventions varied by engineer, and security gaps opened up as a result. Techone needed one way to standardize configuration across the whole MSP group rather than leaving it to individual technicians.

How did Techone onboard 4,000-plus tenants without heavy setup work?

Techone onboarded tenants through Partner Center, using its existing GDAP relationships rather than building complex app registrations for each customer. Because inforcer is Microsoft-native, tenants could be pulled in directly and then aligned to the same standardized baseline across the group, which is what took a policy change from 10 minutes in a single tenant to under 5 minutes across the whole base.
