Key takeaways

1

Never start work before Microsoft approves funding. Funding cannot be backdated. Partners lose payouts when delivery teams start a project before anyone submits the claim and gets approval, often because engagements are not tracked in a CRM.

2

Rebates no longer require a solution designation. From October 1, indirect partners need only 25 points. Two people passing MS-900 and one passing the 15-minute Teams Meetings and Meeting Rooms assessment gets there.

3

Partner Center data shows where to sell. Microsoft expects about 8% of Azure spend to go on security. One customer spent $111,000 a month on Azure and $149 on security, a clear opening for Defender for Cloud.

4

Many partners have co-op funds they never claim. Co-op reimburses activity that improves your Microsoft practice, from events to Bing or Google ads. Claims for a January to June usage period close August 15, and unclaimed money returns to Microsoft.

5

Go sell before you co-sell. Microsoft will not send leads because you hold a designation. Customer association, usage growth, designations and marketplace offers come first, then co-sell referrals on deals already in motion.
